Shannon Sharpe loves all of the hate and jokes headed his way. Less than a week ago, the NFL Hall of Famer made a post on TikTok in which he simply visited a wine store to promote his luxury cognac, Shay by Le Portier.
Unsurprisingly, social media was less worried about the product Sharpe was selling and more interested in what he was wearing.
Many users on social media made fun of the way Sharpe dressed and walked in the clip, claiming that he was moving in a feminine way. It was unfair to the former NFL player, but didn’t stop online comedians from recreating the video with some skits that many found hilarious.
Although a few people came to the defense of Sharpe, social media was mostly filled with people making jokes and criticizing.
But after a week of hearing all the noise, Sharpe has finally spoken.
On his weekly podcast with Chad Ochocinco, “Nightcap,” Unc finally addressed all the jokes and stated, “Once somebody sees something that goes viral, everyone starts piggybacking.”
He later added how happy he was with all the free publicity, saying, “I need somebody else to go in front of Total Wines and put on that green outfit. Because they just ordered 2,000 more cases… Y’all that did it, I need more people to go do it. Because Total Wines ordered 2,000 more cases. So I appreciate that.”
During the same podcast, Sharpe also addressed how much money he made from the Katt Williams interview, telling his viewers, “Everybody was talking about how much money I made during the Kat Williams interview. I just got the check, whatever you think I made, 3x it. So if you think I made 500,000, 3x it. If you think I made a million, 3x it. If you think I made two million, 3x it.”
Sounds like Uncle Shay Shay is all good with all the jokes and memes, as long as the paper keeps coming in.
