Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson ends Biden 2020 endorsement

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the wrestler turned Hollywood star, has dealt a blow to President Joe Biden, stating he will not repeat his endorsement from the 2020 election in Biden’s expected rematch against Donald Trump.

Johnson, who backed Biden over Trump four years ago citing the former vice president’s “compassion, heart, drive and soul,” told Fox News in an interview , “Am I going to do that again this year? That answer’s no. I realize now going into this election, I will not do that.”

Long the subject of speculation about his own political aspirations, Johnson reportedly fielded an approach from the centrist group No Labels about potentially running before they decided against mounting a third-party candidacy.

While not disavowing future political ambitions, Johnson acknowledged being “really moved” and “blown away” when a 2021 poll showed public support for him as a candidate. In addition to acting, is a co-owner of the United Football League and recently stepped back in the WWE ring.

“I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run, and if I could run,” he revealed about receiving overtures in 2022.

However, Johnson expressed disillusionment with the current state of U.S. politics, telling Fox News, “Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer’s no. Do I believe we’re gonna get better? I believe in that – I’m an optimistic guy. And I believe we can do better.”

Reflecting on his 2020 Biden endorsement, he stated, “The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was what I thought was the best decision for me at that time.”

Looking ahead, Johnson aims “to bring this country together” but said, “I’ll keep my politics to myself. It is between me and the ballot box…whoever they vote for, that is my president and who I will support 100%.”
