Everlaw and Google veteran will help Zendesk navigate its next growth phase
Zendesk today announced Shana Simmons has joined the company as its Chief Legal Officer. Simmons will oversee all of Zendesk’s legal functions, providing counsel on the company’s strategic initiatives and steering corporate governance.
“The CX industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation as next generation technology like AI becomes essential for meeting customer demands. Shana’s strategic insights and expertise will help us navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing marketplace,” said Tom Eggemeier, CEO of Zendesk. “Her leadership will ensure our products are built responsibly and uphold our core values of trust, transparency, and a commitment to our customers’ best interests.”
Simmons joins Zendesk with over 15 years of experience as a strategic leader in high-growth companies. She recently served as the Chief Legal Officer at Everlaw, a provider of cloud-based ediscovery solutions for legal teams, where she built the legal team and guided the company’s strategic growth while managing risk. Before Everlaw, she was the Head of Go-To-Market Legal at Google Cloud, contributing to the company’s global market expansion.
“I’ve watched Zendesk’s incredible evolution and can’t think of a more pivotal time to join an industry-leading company focused on doing the right thing by all our stakeholders,” said Simmons. “Legal strategy is important to every aspect of business, especially as we continue to lay a solid foundation for the use of AI in enhancing customer experiences. I’m looking forward to working alongside the leadership team and board to contribute to Zendesk’s success.”
Simmons is known for her expertise in building and guiding top-tier legal teams, as well as her advocacy for diversity and inclusion. She actively participates in governance and advocacy through her board positions at Lawyers for One America and the Oakland Zoo.
